  • LAKE'S TAKE

    Dear Friend,

Over the past year, our Workforce Development committee and all of us at FCMA have directed our attention to the workforce pipeline problem facing manufacturing not only on the First Coast, but across Florida and the United States. We had a successful Manufacturing Day with over 20 tours of local manufacturing facilities for local high school students. We have introduced a program called Manufacturing, Measuring and Math that is being presented to local middle and high schools to teach not only important skills like using a measuring tape, but how that can turn into a career locally. Those are only a few of many programs we are implementing to solve this problem that you continue to voice in our industry.

Another way FCMA chooses to help students interested in science, engineering and manufacturing is through our Tee Up for Tuition Golf Outing each spring. The money brought in through this tournament, scheduled this year for Friday, April 3 at St. Johns Golf & Country Club, is given to local students at UNF's College of Engineering. In addition, some of this money will also be allocated to help cover costs of the aforementioned measuring course to local schools.

If you like to golf and network, sign up your foursome now by emailing Maria@fcmaweb.com ASAP - we sell out each year! Not a golfer but want to get involved? Consider sponsoring the event - each sponsorship includes onsite signage as well as your company name on our website, social media and monthly Voice newsletter, among other benefits.

Other ways to get involved without playing include donating a raffle or silent auction prize or an item for our 175 goodie bags. What a great way to get your name out to our membership as well as support a great cause. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor for 2020, please email Maria Corby at maria@fcmaweb.com by March 27, 2020.

Let's hit the links together on April 3!

Our new edition of Manufacturing on the First Coast Magazine will be published in the next several months. This magazine is intended to effectively promote job growth and the positive influence the manufacturing industry plays in our economy now and in the future. Using strategic distribution geared toward manufacturers and business leaders clearly makes advertising in this biennial trade publication a smart investment.

We hope you will consider sponsoring an advertisement in this important publication to help us communicate with manufacturers, leaders and others across the region.
