The First Coast Manufacturers Association continues to be the premiere trade association in our region. Our members make an impact in our community and in our state. Recently, members of FCMA advocated for manufacturers and pro-business policies in Tallahassee. It is because of our members involvement that policymakers understand firsthand the challenges manufacturers face and recognize solutions.
Our members have unique opportunities to learn and connect with industry leaders. April is another fully loaded month for our association. Our golf tournament affords you the opportunity to meet with like minded business leaders and build relationships, while supporting our Association. Additionally, our open house on April 29th gives you the chance to meet with community leaders and rub elbows with fellow members. Finally, our Workforce Development Committee has taken a leadership role in identifying and promoting the future of our industry. The Committee is hosting a miniature Manufacturing Day, ahead of Manufacturing Month this fall. These opportunities are not to be missed.
Next month, members will have the opportunity to attend a Manufacturing Symposium. This Symposium will offer members unique insights into our current state of manufacturing. The Symposium serves a condensed Summit and will feature keynote speakers and relevant content to serve our members. I hope to see these at our upcoming events.
Let’s Make It Here,

EHS Committee Meeting
FCMA had the pleasure of having James R Maher, PE, Assistant Director, FDEP Northeast District and Tom Kallemeyn (Permitting Program Administrator), FDEP Northeast District as guest speakers at the March Committee meeting, who spoke to the group about operator requirements and certifications for Underground Storage tank systems.
Training providers must provide verification to all Class A and Class B operators who have successfully completed training, in the form of a written or printable electronic training certificate stating the classification and the date it was obtained. Owners and operators must ensure that training certificates are maintained at each facility for inspection by the county or Department. A designated Class B operator for a given facility must provide the facility owner or operator with signed and dated written verification in the form of a list of all Class C operators who have been trained for that facility.
Thank you to Matt Harris, Environmental Consultant for Northeast District – Jacksonville, Regulated Storage Tanks, Compliance Assurance Program for providing this information.
Our 2019 Professional Progress class kicked off last month, with a class about communication and a tour of FCMA member Bacardi’s bottling plant.
The FCMA Professional Progress classes continue to make a positive impact for our members.
Tallahassee Advocacy Trip
Thank you to all our members who attended our annual Tallahassee Trip in March. Attendees met with many of our local elected officials, including Attorney General Ashley Moody and representatives from the Commissioner of Agriculture’s office.
Your attendance at this event makes a tremendous impact on policymakers. Without our members participation, leaders would not have firsthand industry appreciation and understanding of manufacturing.
What our members are up to.
