Lake's Take

Hi Friends,
I am thrilled to share with you the tremendous success of our annual golf outing and round table discussions held in May. The month was a fantastic blend of professional dialogue and recreational enjoyment, demonstrating once again the strength and camaraderie within our community.

Reflecting on the golf outing, it was not only a wonderful opportunity to network and discuss the future of manufacturing on the First Coast but also a moment to unwind and appreciate each other’s company in a relaxed setting. This is always a favorite event of mine! Also this month, our round table discussions were particularly enlightening, offering valuable insights and fostering rich exchanges that will undoubtedly propel our industry forward.

As we move into June, I am excited to announce that we will be hosting our summer social at the Community First Igloo. For those of you who attended our Winter Social, you'll know what a great time we had then, and The Igloo promises to be a perfect respite from the summer heat, providing an enjoyable atmosphere for all of us to come together. I sincerely hope each of you can take this time to momentarily step back from the daily grind and enjoy some well-deserved relaxation.

Looking ahead, the future of manufacturing on the First Coast is indeed promising. Our collective efforts and dedication continue to foster innovation and growth within our industry. As we approach the second half of the year, I am eager to see the new heights we will reach and the milestones we will achieve together.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment and enthusiasm. I look forward to seeing you all at the Community First Igloo and to another successful season for FCMA.

Warm regards,
Lake G. Ray III
President, First Coast Manufacturers Association

Benefits of participation:

  • Your company will receive a FREE copy of the survey, a $500 value, making it a great return on your membership investment.

The Wage & Benefit Survey allows your company to make informed decisions by giving reliable benchmarks based on your industry, size, and closest competitors. Workforce Development

Our Frontline Supervisor courses have been going smoothly this month, ranging from learning about Leading High Performing Teams at Johnson & Johnson Vision, to an in-depth case study based on launching a new shift schedule to our level 2 class. The scenario required each team to develop a plan and communicate it to the audience of frontline supervisors. This was hosted at Rulon International. We couldn't do this without the amazing partnerships with our manufacturers! Thank you!

We still have open slots for our upcoming Fall Mid-Level Manager leadership class that is scheduled to begin on October 23, 2025, and run through January 22, 2025.  This program is specifically designed for leaders who currently have supervisors and managers as direct reports.  The program starts with multiple self-evaluation tools including 360 Feedback and Strength Finder that will include one-on-one coaching feedback sessions on the evaluation results.  The curriculum will also include sessions on how to develop a high-performing culture, leading teams and achieving team value, behaviors that matter, and team accountability, decision-making, strategic thinking, and leading change management.

Feedback from all of our Front-Line Supervisor participants indicated that they would like to see their manager take a class like this.  Don't hesitate, as we do expect a full class.  Contact Mike Templeton at mike@templetonms.com now to reserve your seat or register at the link below.
